A Methodology Combining IDEF0 and Weighted Risk Factor Analysis for the Strategic Planning of Mine Reclamation

The reclamation of lignite surface mines is a long-term commitment high complexity. These projects consist land use repurposing, reinstatement landforms and landscape, remediation polluted soils water bodies, restoration ecosystems, other related activities, which are usually developed when enter the ultimate phase their operational life. Nowadays, supported by regulatory settings legislative provisions, motivate affected communities to move towards circular economy sustainable development. This paper investigates geoenvironmental socioeconomic problems draws research questions on how strategic planning project can be performed relevant risks investigated managed. In turn, prototype methodology based experts’ judgment suggested with case study combining: (a) IDEF0 (Integrated DEFinition Function) modelling technique, as low cost easy-to-develop tool enabling projects, (b) Weighted Risk Factor analysis suitable method for effective risk response in post-mining frameworks. Finally, discussion proposals further provided.
